African Thread Series: For Style Sake - Easy, Bold Afro-Fusion Wear

For Style Sake is essentially a style blog turned fashion brand. Founded by sisters Sawela Oluwole and Segi Akin-Taylor. The Lagos-based brand creates bold, Afro-fusion pieces inspired by traditional Nigerian clothing and global influences.

Sawela, the creative director for the brand utilises vibrant prints and Nigerian Indigenous fabrics such as Aso-Oke and Adire. The pieces are versatile, eye-catching, distinctive and easy to wear.

The idea to transform For Style Sake into a  fashion brand came when Sawela and Segi realised that their readers were interested in the clothing they showcased on the blog.

"Every time we posted things, people were really interested in what we were wearing. We sat down and decided to start something, and here we are." -Sawela Oluwole

For Style Sake's bold pieces include:

Black and White Batik Top and Culotte Set

The Black and White Batik Top and Culotte set, a showstopping piece that can easily transition from day to evening wear. Made using distinctive Batik print in striking and elegant black and white. This outfit is distinctly African with an Afro-fusion twist.
